Diet and nutrition play a vital role in virtually all disharmonies and
diseases. Most health problems can be cured or greatly relieved with
proper eating habits. Most of our patients, however, do not know how to
eat for optimal health and vitality. It is obvious that the typical
American diet is a major cause of many health problems. We recognize
that most patients are confused by the glut of diets, health programs,
nutritional supplements, and often contradictory information regarding
food choices and healthy nutrition.
Recommendations for better health:
1. Get enough sleep.
2. Eat proteins as the main part of every meal i.e. Turkey, lean red meat, fish, eggs, chicken.
3. Eat vegetables lightly cooked- Makes it easier for our stomach to absorb the nutrients fully.
4. Eat some fats-Cook with Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
5. Exercise regularly.
6. Eat organic or local when possible.
7. Drink plenty of spring water(not filtered tap).
Avoid
1. Raw vegetables and salads- Our body has a hard time digesting raw foods.
2. Limit fruits and fruit juice- Especially if your trying to lose weight.
3. Ice and cold beverages-(ice cream is the worst).
4. Diet sweeteners- Aspartame, Sucralose.
5. Fried foods and polyunsaturated oils.
6. Meals consisting of mainly starches- Make sure you include proteins with every meal.
7. Eating while driving, watching TV, or talking on the phone.
